Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Purpose
ExplainTheHack teaches offensive security concepts for educational and professional development purposes. This policy defines what responsible use looks like and what is prohibited.
This platform teaches concepts, not authorization. Understanding how an attack works does not grant you permission to perform it.
Acceptable use
You may use ExplainTheHack to:
- Study offensive security concepts for personal learning
- Prepare for cybersecurity interviews and certification exams
- Improve your ability to explain technical concepts to stakeholders
- Support authorized, professional security work (penetration testing, red teaming) where you have documented permission
- Build foundational knowledge for a career in cybersecurity
Prohibited use
You may not use ExplainTheHack or its content to:
- Conduct unauthorized hacking — access, test, or attack any system, network, or application without explicit written authorization from the owner
- Perform unauthorized access — gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems belonging to others
- Abuse techniques — use any technique, method, or concept learned on this platform for malicious purposes, including but not limited to fraud, harassment, espionage, or sabotage
- Share paid content — distribute, republish, or share premium content with non-subscribers, including screenshots, copies, or summaries of premium material
- Scrape or resell — use automated tools to extract content, or repackage any ExplainTheHack material for sale, training courses, or competing products
- Circumvent access controls — bypass authentication, subscription checks, or any other technical measures protecting premium content
Your responsibility
Cybersecurity knowledge carries responsibility. Many of the concepts taught on this platform describe techniques that are illegal to perform without authorization. It is your responsibility to:
- Understand the legal boundaries in your jurisdiction
- Only apply techniques where you have documented, explicit authorization
- Use this knowledge to build a legitimate career, not to cause harm
Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund. We may also report suspected illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
